philosophy, our current ministries, and all of the details about our internship program. My hope is that as

where you are supposed to serve. We are looking forward to getting to know you more as you get to know
a little bit about us.
Lance

Location:
Mid Valley Church meets at 7pm on Fridays at the Third Street Center in Carbondale, CO. We also
meet for our midweek Bible studies at 6:30pm on Wednesdays at dierent homes of church members.

Style:
Our church is contemporary. Our worship services are very relaxed and our music is almost entirely
contemporary.

Pastor:
Lance Norton is our lead pastor. Lance and his wife Staci moved to the valley in September of 2015 after
serving with the International Mission Board in Caernarfon, Wales. Lance and Staci have been married for
11 years.

Philosophy:
Our mission statement is simple: Mid Valley Church wants to make a lasting impact in your life, in our
community, and around the world. How do we do that? By leading people to become fully devoted followers
of Christ. At Mid Valley Church we are willing to try just about anything to share the love of Christ with people. We
often try new approaches to ministry and are continously striving to generate new, creative ways to reach
those who don’t yet know Christ.

Theology:
We arm the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message as our theological stance. If you would like to read the BFM
you can nd it at http://www.sbc.net/bfm2000/bfm2000.asp.

Current ministries
Worship Experience:
Our regular weekly worship experience is held on Friday nights at 7pm at the 3rd Street Center in
downtown Carbondale. We meet on Friday nights in an attempt to better reach our recreation centered
culture. All of our members are encouraged to use their Sundays to engage those who don’t yet know
Jesus.

Weekly Bible Study:
Our weekly Bible study meets each Wednesday at 6:30pm in the homes of dierent members of our
church. It is a scripture based discussion where everyone is encouraged to participate in the conversation.
Wednesday nights also have a time devoted to prayer for various requests.

Munchies Ministry:
Our munchies ministry is a “free lunch” based outreach program to connect with people in our community.
Each month we buy lunch for a local business just as a way to make contact with people who would
otherwise not hear from a church.

Missions:
Although we are in a mission area ourselves, we still strive to support other local missions who are doing
things we aren’t capable of doing ourselves. For example we support a Christian homeless shelter called
Feed My Sheep because they are much more skilled in reaching the homeless and have the infrastructure
already in place to do so. We also support missions in our state through our local association and through
the Colorado Baptist General Convention. Internationally we support mission work in Romania, Wales,
Brazil, and Zambia.

Internship Dates:
The Dates for 2016-2017 are:
•Winter| 12/15/16-1/15/17
(These dates will be exible based on school dates etc.)
•Summer| 6/1/16-8/1/16
Job Descriptions:
•Winter: Winter is a great time to serve in the Rockies especially if you love to ski. There are 4 mountains
within a 30 minute drive (Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Sunlight) and another 8 within 2 hours
(Beaver Creek, Vail, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Ski Cooper, Steamboat Springs, Powderhorn,
Breckenridge). In winter, recreation is king so being outdoors will be a priority. The area is also famous for
it’s hot springs, and therefore there are many ministriy opportunities at the springs. In addition to
recreation type ministry, interns will help out with the already listed (on previous page) existing ministries.
Winter challenges:
-If you hate the snow, you should consider summer. It snows often in the winter and can get quite cold,
especially at night.
-Tourists. Sometimes it is dicult to navigate between the locals and tourists. Although we understand
that everyone needs to hear about Christ, we are focused primarily on reaching those that live in the
area year round.
-Holidays. If you love being with your family on Christmas this could be tough. Although you would
be permitted to leave for Christmas, it is not reccommended as it will consume a portion of an already
relatively short time here. We encourage our interns to stay for the full time and celebrate with us.
•Summer: Summer is a great time for anyone to serve in the Rockies. Days are warm and nights are cool
which means people are out all the time. Much like in winter, recreation is king, therefore much of
your ministry will involve hiking, biking, etc. There are many festivals in our area that provide a good
opportunity to minister to our community. In addition to recreation type ministry, interns will help out
with the already listed (on previous page) existing ministries.
Summer Challenges:
-Tourists. Sometimes it is dicult to navigate between the locals and tourists. Although we understand
that everyone needs to hear about Christ, we are focused primarily on reaching those that live in the
area year round.
-Physical activity can be demanding in the summer as there is a lot of outdoor activity.
